Not all heroes wear capes.
Meghan Markle looked autumn-ready as she wore a chic black cape coat to Kevin Costner’s One805LIVE! event on Friday, joining Prince Harry for the celeb-filled fundraiser for first responders at the actor’s estate in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The Duchess of Sussex, 42, wore a funnel-necked Carolina Herrera design with a herringbone tweed print for the event, cinching the loose style with a black belt.
She paired her poncho-like coat from the designer’s fall/winter 2022 collection with black trousers and the black mesh Manolo Blahnik heels ($845) she wore to the Invictus Games in 2022, which are currently available in a slightly updated design.
The mom of two wore her hair pulled back in a low bun to show off her twisted gold Tabayer earrings ($3,900).
As for the Duke of Sussex, he wore an all-black look, sporting a black suit with an unbuttoned dress shirt.
The couple — who live in nearby Montecito — joined friends like Ellen Degeneres and Oprah Winfrey as they presented Costner with an award at the charity concert, which supports first responders in Santa Barbara County.

While Markle’s Carolina Herrera cape is a far cry from the black Banana Republic Factory dress ($84, originally $140) she sported in Germany earlier this month, her vibe at the “Dances with Wolves” actor’s charity event certainly plays into her usual neutral aesthetic.
Indeed, Markle showed off her sporty style in a range of black, white and beige outfits as she attended the 2023 Invictus Games with her husband, taking in the sporting action in everything from the aforementioned bargain dress to a pair of pricey Chanel flats and a belted denim shirt dress from Carolina Herrera.
After this caped appearance, we’re fully on board for Meghan to enter her autumn era.
