Meghan Markle’s former best friend Jessica Mulroney shared a cryptic quote about practicing “detachment” three years after her falling out with the Duchess of Sussex.
“As loving as I am, my detachment game is strong too,” read the message posted on Mulroney’s Instagram Story on Tuesday night.
Meme account PositiveVibesQuotes originally shared the words with the caption, “Detachment allows for less disappointment and heartbreak” before begging the question, “Do you agree or disagree?”
The former BFFs met on the set of Markle’s show “Suits” when Mulroney worked as the actress’ stylist. From there, their friendship quickly blossomed.
Mulroney was even present at Markle’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, where the mother of three’s children had major roles in the ceremony: Her daughter, Ivy, was a bridesmaid, while her twin sons, John and Brian, were page boys.
But their friendship hit a snag in 2020 when Mulroney was accused of showing “white privilege” amid the Black Lives Matter movement following George Floyd’s death.
After the backlash, Markle, who is biracial, iced out Mulroney, with an insider claiming at the time, “Meghan has forsaken her most loyal friend just to look woke.”
Mulroney denied rumors there was any beef between her and the “Archetypes” podcast host.
“I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday [sic],” she wrote on her Instagram Story at the time.
“Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it.”
But the two women apparently had been growing distant since Markle joined the royal family.
A source told Page Six that Markle believed Mulroney was “benefitting” from her new status, which didn’t sit well with the duchess.

Mulroney’s “white privilege” controversy had “really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good,” one source said.
Another told us, “I don’t know what the tipping point was, but Jess has been on the outs for some time. Their friendship is definitely not what it was. And really, how can you have such a close friendship when one person is basically making a career out of the friendship?”
Mulroney and Markle have kept their distance since, though the fashionista did make a cameo in the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” which debuted last December.
In the show, Harry, 39, and Markle were reflecting on their 2017 engagement when the footage cut to the duchess FaceTiming with Mulroney right before the redheaded royal popped the question.
“Oh, my God, Jess, it’s happening. He told me not to peek,” Markle said in the video.
However, viewers noted that Mulroney was not interviewed in the miniseries or even mentioned by the Sussexes despite having played a major role in their lives at the time they fell in love.
Mulroney seemingly responded by posting another cryptic quote on social media that stated, “Best thing I ever did was learn how to move without the crowd.”
