Meghan Markle trades neutrals for teal cutout dress at Invictus Games closing ceremony

She’s ending on a high note.

While Meghan Markle wore a parade of neutrals for the Invictus Games 2023 in Düsseldorf, Germany last week, she closed out the games with quite a departure from her black, white and beige looks, wearing a strapless teal dress for the closing ceremony on Saturday.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, looked chic in a Cult Gaia dress ($798) with a floral lace pattern as she joined Prince Harry for the emotional closing ceremony, which featured performances by Rita Ora and Eurovision Song Contest star Sam Ryder.

Although the piece appears to be made from leather at first glance, it’s actually crafted from polyester that’s laser cut into a lace pattern with cutouts.

She paired the bright look with beige Aquazurra pumps ($632) and Kimai diamond hoop earrings ($695 each) along with her often-worn Cartier Love bracelet ($7,350).

Prince Harry went in the opposite direction of his colorful wife, wearing a sleek black suit with an unbuttoned black dress shirt underneath.

The Duchess of Sussex’s bright outfit follows a range of sleek neutral outfits in Germany, with the royal pairing budget-conscious pieces from retailers like J.Crew in shades of white, tan, navy and black with designer accessories such as a pair of $790 Hermès sneakers.

Markle — who is known for wearing high-end designers since her departure as a senior royal — stepped out in a Banana Republic Factory midi dress ($56, originally $140) for her first official appearance at the games.

For more Page Six Style …

She even sported a Zara romper after reportedly hosting a “Sayonara Zara” party when she got famous, wearing the beige ensemble to take in the sporting action on Prince Harry’s 39th birthday Friday.

Royal fashion expert Christine Ross told Page Six Style last week that “Meghan’s fashion power is strongest when it’s accessible,” noting that her decision to wear more high street brands during the games seems to be “a very conscious decision to be more appealing, down to earth and likeable.”

Although we’re saying “auf wiedersehen” to the Invictus Games until 2025, our fingers are crossed for more sleek style moments from the duchess this fall.
