Did the great Anna Wintour commit a fashion faux pas?
Page Six hears that Vogue’s venerable boss, and undisputed high priestess of fashion, “wreaked havoc” on New York Fashion Week when she left town early to prep for her mag’s Vogue World extravaganza in London.
The move allegedly left designers scrambling to finish their collections so they could show Wintour ahead of time.
This year’s citywide fashion fest just wrapped on Wednesday, but we hear that Wintour — the sunglasses-wearing staple of the front rows — left the Big Apple last weekend to fly across the pond.
A source tells us that fashion designers, who were showing during the week, had to “scramble and get their designs ready days before” to make a private presentation to Wintour, “causing huge stress since most of the time collections are finished last-minute.”
“It wreaked havoc on fashion week,” snarked a source.
Wintour was also noticeably absent from shows she normally attends, such as Michael Kors on Monday. The front row of A-listers still included Halle Berry, Blake Lively and Ariana DeBose.
The New York Times reported that during Thursday’s Vogue World show, Wintour’s “full power was on display, with insiders chattering that she persuaded Michael Kors to bump his New York show up a day so that models could fly to London in time.”
A source close to Vogue tells us that Wintour “spoke with the designers ahead of NYFW and explained Vogue World, and why she would be missing the shows. All of them were understanding and appreciated the mission of Vogue World.”
The insider continued, “Anna has always been a tireless champion of NYFW, and last year’s Vogue World was a love letter to it. In fact, I don’t believe she’s ever left early in over 30 years.”

There’s a first time for everything!
Vogue World, which kicked off London Fashion Week at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, is being dubbed the British Met Gala and was indeed a blockbuster.
Supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista took the catwalk together. Kate Moss, Emily Ratajkowski and Ashley Graham also strutted their stuff.
Annie Lennox performed and FKA Twigs and Cara Delevingne kissed in front of a celebrity-packed crowd that included Leonardo DiCaprio, Sienna Miller, Kate Winslet, Baz Luhrmann, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Jodie Turner-Smith, Maisie Williams, Alexa Chung and British Vogue’s Edward Enninful, who also organized the event.
The philanthropic event raised more than $2 million — with money going to London’s arts and culture institutions such as the National Theatre, the Royal Opera House, South Bank Sinfonia and the Rambert Dance Company.
